Students will then narrow the information down from culture to only the use and modifying of the land in Michigan (may expand to the United States if need be)
Each group will have time to practice their presentation and information
Students may type, google doc (voice record) , make a PowerPoint or create a diorama of their group and the land use students can also create a rap, poem, or song about their group as time permits, (extended via homework as well) share their research with the class.
Students will participate in a Courtroom Drama that is video taped around the question Should the Europeans have used and modified the environment the way they did?
Personalization/Differentiation

Assessment:

Evaluate students based on participation and effort for the class debates or discussions.
Students should be able to describe and explain the differences between the concepts regarding land held by Native Americans and Euro-Americans.
How do you know students can "transfer" the learning to new situations? Students will be able to research across the curriculum as well as complete presentations (public speaking). Students will also use collaboration from the practice with their group members in any situation.
Will there be an opportunity for constructive "peer" feedback? yes as a class we can view the video and write questions we have for the groups. Surveys for other third grade class to give feedback.
